Many children and adults who could benefit from animal-assisted programs never get access to them. At the same time, many animals who could thrive in these partnerships never get the training, structure, or support needed to participate safely and happily.
At the Human-Animal Interaction Lab, we create and improve programs that help people and animals form safe, mutually beneficial partnerships.
Your support helps us expand access to evidence-based animal-assisted programs, provide these life-changing opportunities to community members at no cost, and train the next generation of professionals who will carry this work into schools, clinics, and communities everywhere.
Together, we can expand access to safe, effective interventions that benefit both people and animals!

Some examples of how your generous support can help:
$25-$50: This amount can cover participant incentives or basic supplies for one community member to participate in an animal-assisted intervention session, helping us provide these life-changing programs at no cost to those who need them most.
$500: Enough to outfit one human-animal pair with the walking and training supplies needed to take their partnership outdoors, encouraging safe, mutually beneficial physical activity beyond the lab environment.
$1,000: Help support the materials and assessments needed for one child or adult to participate in a multi-session animal-assisted intervention program, including pre/post evaluations that help us measure and improve outcomes for both people and animals.
$5,000: Enough to cover costs associated with training materials, safety protocols, and handler education for developing one new evidence-based animal-assisted intervention, creating programs that can be replicated and shared with communities everywhere.
$10,000: Could help fund a small cohort of participants in an educational animal-assisted program, including curriculum development, animal welfare assessments, supplies, and program evaluation, supporting safe, mutually beneficial partnerships that improve physical and mental health outcomes.
$25,000: Enough to support a dedicated graduate student research assistant plus program supplies for one term, advancing our ability to develop, test, and refine interventions that strengthen the human-animal bond while improving wellbeing on both sides of the partnership.
$100,000+: Enough to support a comprehensive research and intervention initiative or endowment providing critical ongoing program support that can expand access to safe, effective programs benefiting both people and animals across our community. If you are interested in establishing a named fund, facility, or research initiative at this level, we would love to hear from you and assist you in this process.
